Ravn's Wake

Ravn’s Wake are respected by many as masterful crafters and traders. Their neutrality keeps them apart—they work with all clans, all those in power, yet swear loyalty to none. This distance lends them a certain untouchable quality. Trusted, but never fully claimed. While they pay most respect to Fenrir and Freyja, given their pack leader's roots, they make no claims to honor those gods alone. What sets them apart is reliability. They always arrive, they always deliver, and when they depart, the place they’ve touched is never quite the same. Whether it’s a trade sealed, knowledge shared, a promise kept, Ravn's Wake and those within the pack always leave a lasting impression. They are known to be owed favors beyond count to the manyfel they have helped. Their lanterns are a promise of safe passage in the night, a light offered only to those they deem worthy to receive it.
To some, the pack itself becomes a refuge, sought out when all other paths feel lost and hope runs thin.

Pack Patterns
✦ Often the first to arrive in a port after disaster (storm, raid, blight), with supplies to sell or barter.
✦ Operate on a philosophy of constant movement (a wake must always be left behind). To be entirely still is considered dangerous.
✦ To join them is to live by the lantern: guiding others while carving through the darkness.
✦ They represent both safety for the lost and opportunity for the desperate — whether on sea, in trade, or in secrets.
✦ Their reputation makes them above politics, but woven into every economy.
✦ Said to have a ravenlike opportunism → they will pick clean a battlefield, a storm wreck, or an abandoned ruin, always leaving with something of worth.
✦ Despite being wide-reaching, their culture values efficiency, resourcefulness, and secrecy → one never reveals more than is needed.

Rumors
Whispers follow the Wake wherever they travel. Some say their knowledge of magic runs deeper than simple trade, old practices passed down to Hellea herself by her mother Hel. Whatever the truth, their rites take place behind closed doors, never meant for prying outside eyes. When questioned, Hellea and all of Ravn's Wake deny practice of magic to those they do not trust. This secrecy is no accident. They cultivate it, almost as if they want their enemies to be unaware of their skill should they need to exercise them. A lantern burning in the dark is comfort to the lost... but a warning to any threats Ravn's Wake might encounter.

The Wake’s Promise
Though they are wanderers by nature, Ravn’s Wake does not drift aimlessly. Their lives are bound by an unspoken code, a set of rules that keep the pack steady even as the sea shifts beneath them. These rules are not laws etched in stone but guided principles, carried from lantern to lantern. To walk among the Wake is to understand that freedom does not mean lawlessness; their order lies in discipline, secrecy, and the relentless movement of tide and trade.Every member is expected to uphold their code; not for glory, nor for the favor of prying eyes, but because the lantern burns only as long as its bearers tend it with loyalty and love. To stray too far from the pack’s rules is to risk extinguishing the flame that keeps them bound. When a recruit joins the Wake, a lantern is lit by the paws of one of its alphas. Its flame is tended for as long as the member remains loyal and within the pack - should they depart or fall, the light is extinguished.

1. Never Still → A wake is meant to be left behind ones pawsteps. To linger too long is a risk. The pack keeps moving, even when comfort tempts them.
2. Lantern for the Worthy → Aid is given only to those deemed deserving. The lantern is guidance, not charity; to waste it is to dishonor the pack.
3. Nothing Wasted → Every scrap, word, or whisper has value. All things are to be repurposed, traded, or carried into new form.
4. Above All Banners → Ravn's Wake belongs to no clan, no throne, no god. Allegiance lies with the lantern and the Hungry Wolf that carries them from island to island.
5. The Flame Never Falters → Whether storm, dragon, or blight, the lantern must burn. Even in the darkest tide.
6. One howl, many faces → A true pack member adapts without hesitation; courier, trader, healer, or guide, as the Wake demands.
7. The Raven’s Due → What the Wake gives, it expects returned in kind. No blessing comes without cost, and no gift without obligation. All pack members must return good deeds upon those around them in favor of the pack's safety.
8. The Dead Leave Nothing Idle → From bone to feather, ruin to relic, the fallen feed the living. To waste is to dishonor what came before.

Establishments
Ravn’s Wake are both seafarers and settlers, living as much on land as they do upon the waves. Their ships remain the heart of their movement, cutting through the Hungry Wolf and tying every island together, but their presence on shore is just as strong. In Ulfrheim, Helvalla, and Jörmungandr alike, their lantern-marked stalls and workshops are a familiar sight in every major port and trade district. While never rooted in a single home, the Wake maintains footholds and safe spots across nearly every map. From hidden coves and tucked-away harbors to market-side dwellings, storehouses, and rented rooms, there is always a lantern-lit refuge waiting for members of the pack. Their reach is constant, their flame a promise of safety, trade, and knowledge wherever they go.
